SSR Concludes a Visit to Carrefour International du Bois 2026, Strengthening Its Presence in the European Market

From June 2 to 4, SSR attended Carrefour International du Bois 2026 in Nantes, France, joining wood industry professionals from across Europe and international markets. The three-day event created a focused environment for manufacturers, distributors, wood traders, construction specialists, architects and sourcing professionals to meet and exchange perspectives on the future of the sector.

Organized every two years, Carrefour International du Bois brings together wood materials, panels, parquet flooring, specialized trading companies and wood construction solutions in one professional exhibition. The 2026 edition welcomed 650 exhibitors from 40 countries across five exhibition halls, reinforcing its position as a major international meeting point for the forestry and wood industries. More information about the exhibition can be found on the official Carrefour International du Bois website.

For SSR, participating in this leading EU trade fair offered more than an overview of products and suppliers. It provided direct access to the people shaping purchasing decisions, product development and supply strategies across Europe. The visit allowed our team to listen to market expectations, strengthen industry relationships and consider how Vietnam manufacturing can support more reliable and scalable wood programs for European customers.

A Valuable Opportunity to Connect with the European Market

One of the most important parts of Carrefour International du Bois 2026 was the opportunity to meet European wood professionals face to face. Across the exhibition halls and networking areas, SSR spoke with distributors, wholesalers, manufacturers, sourcing representatives and other companies involved in the movement of wood products from material supply to final application.

These conversations provided a clearer understanding of how purchasing priorities differ across European markets. Some buyers were focused on stable access to raw materials and wood panels, while others were evaluating finished surfaces, components or products that could be adapted to established sales channels. Requirements varied according to the country, application and customer group, but the need for dependable execution remained consistent.

European buyers increasingly evaluate a supplier through the complete process behind the product. Dimensions and appearance remain important, yet they are considered alongside moisture control, material origin, production consistency, packaging, communication and repeat-order reliability. A product may meet the specification for one shipment, but a long-term program requires the same standard to be maintained across future orders.

For SSR, this reinforced the value of being present at an international EU trade fair. Direct discussion gives both sides the opportunity to understand the reasoning behind a specification instead of communicating only through drawings, quotations or product samples. It also helps SSR identify where manufacturing methods, packaging concepts or quality controls may need to be adjusted for a specific European market.

The meetings at CIB also allowed SSR to reconnect with existing contacts while beginning conversations with new partners exploring sourcing opportunities in Vietnam and Asia. These early exchanges created a foundation for more detailed discussions about wood species, product applications, technical requirements and potential supply programs after the exhibition.

Observing Trends Beyond the Exhibition Booths

The value of CIB 2026 extended beyond scheduled meetings. Walking through the exhibition halls allowed the SSR team to observe how European companies present their materials, communicate product value and connect technical performance with the needs of architects, manufacturers, distributors and construction professionals.

The sector-based layout made it possible to see different stages of the wood value chain within one exhibition. Sawn timber, panels, flooring, engineered products and construction solutions were presented in clearly defined areas, allowing visitors to compare materials and understand how different products are positioned within the market.

This broader view is especially important for a manufacturer serving international buyers. A wood panel is rarely selected only because of its dimensions or species. Its grade, color variation, moisture condition, machining tolerance and surface preparation affect how it performs during later production. A finished wood surface must also meet expectations related to packaging, installation, visual consistency and retail presentation.

Across the exhibition, there was a visible emphasis on responsible material sourcing, production efficiency and the ability to explain how a product moves through the supply chain. European companies are placing greater attention on documentation and transparency, while also expecting suppliers to respond more quickly when specifications or market conditions change.

The event also showed how wood is being presented as both an industrial material and a design material. Product displays connected technical properties with architecture, interiors, furniture and construction. This approach highlighted the importance of developing products around a clear application rather than presenting wood only as an isolated material.

For SSR, these observations supported a wider understanding of the European wood industry. The exhibition halls became a practical reference point for evaluating product direction, manufacturing readiness and the level of communication expected from an international manufacturing partner.

Turning Market Insights into Better Customer Solutions

For SSR, participation in international industry events is not only about building visibility—it is also about learning directly from the market.

The feedback, discussions, and observations gathered during Carrefour International du Bois 2026 will be incorporated into ongoing efforts to enhance both operational performance and customer experience.

Areas that will continue receiving attention include:

  • Strengthening quality consistency across production processes
  • Improving responsiveness and communication throughout project execution
  • Expanding manufacturing flexibility to accommodate changing customer requirements
  • Enhancing supply chain reliability through long-term planning and resource management
  • Developing solutions that align more closely with evolving market expectations

By staying connected to customers and industry developments, SSR can make informed decisions that create practical value for partners around the world.

Building Relationships That Extend Beyond the Exhibition

An international trade show may last only a few days, but meaningful business development continues long after the exhibition closes. Many conversations at Carrefour International du Bois 2026 opened the way for further exchanges about specifications, samples, quotations and possible product programs.

The next stage is to turn general interest into a clear working process. This may begin with a buyer sharing an existing product, drawing or target application. SSR can then evaluate the appropriate wood species, construction, dimensions and production method before preparing a proposal that reflects the actual requirements of the market.

This process requires communication from both sides. Buyers need clear information about manufacturing possibilities and limitations, while the factory needs to understand how the product will be used, sold and transported. The stronger this exchange becomes, the easier it is to develop a program that can move from an initial order into repeat supply.

Relationships built through CIB also help SSR maintain closer contact with developments across the European wood industry. Regular discussions with distributors, manufacturers and sourcing professionals provide context that cannot be gained through market data alone. They reveal how companies are responding to customer expectations, regulatory pressure, supply challenges and changes in product demand.

For SSR, long-term partnership means remaining involved after the first shipment. Production performance, customer feedback and future adjustments all contribute to the development of a stronger program. Carrefour International du Bois created the environment for these conversations to begin, while the work that follows will determine their long-term value.

Looking Ahead: Preparing for IWF 2026 in the United States

Following the visit to Carrefour International du Bois, SSR is preparing for the next stage of its international exhibition program at IWF Atlanta 2026. The show will take place from August 25 to 28, 2026, at the Georgia World Congress Center, where SSR will exhibit in Building C, Level 1, Booth C610.

The experience gained at the European EU trade fair will contribute to how SSR presents its manufacturing platform in Atlanta. While European and North American buyers operate in different commercial environments, both markets require clear product specifications, consistent execution and manufacturing partners capable of supporting repeat orders at scale.

SSR’s booth concept reflects this direction. Large displays of Acacia, Hevea and other wood collections will allow visitors to compare species, constructions and surface possibilities directly. The design presents butcher block, chevron, live-edge and panel applications within a single space, connecting raw material selection with potential finished-product programs.

The exhibition will also introduce visitors to the manufacturing systems supporting these products. Rather than presenting individual samples without context, SSR will show how material control, production capacity, quality management and export coordination work together across the platform.

Insights gathered at CIB 2026 will help prepare the team for these discussions. Conversations in Nantes highlighted the importance of understanding each buyer’s market before recommending a product or manufacturing solution. The same principle will guide meetings in Atlanta, where SSR will engage with retailers, distributors, manufacturers and project buyers from North America and other international markets.

Moving Forward

Carrefour International du Bois 2026 provided valuable market perspectives, meaningful conversations, and new opportunities for collaboration across Europe.

Most importantly, it reinforced SSR’s commitment to continuous improvement. Every insight gathered, every relationship developed, and every conversation held contributes to our broader mission: helping customers build stronger businesses through reliable manufacturing, responsive service, and long-term partnership.

We want to thank everyone who took the time to meet with our team during the event. We look forward to continuing these conversations and seeing many of you again at future industry gatherings around the world.
